GoodPup Onboarding Refresh

GoodPup provides personalized 1-1 real-time video training sessions with certified dog trainers, empowering dog parents to train their furry companions on their own schedule while receiving undivided attention from our trainers.

Problem: Our previous onboarding flow resulted in a higher dropout rate on the sign-up page compared to the mobile app.

Solution: Implemented a two-phase approach. Initially, made minor adjustments to the sign-up page with minimal engineering effort. Subsequently, overhauled the entire onboarding process.

Phase 1

The first phase involved rapidly improving the sign-up dropout rate. I achieved this by incorporating testimonials and compelling copy, alongside images demonstrating the success of numerous users with GoodPup, fostering trust.

Phase 2

The previous flow was straightforward but resembled filling out a doctor's appointment form. It entailed numerous questions about users' dogs, ranging from information they already knew to health issues. Recognizing an opportunity, we aimed to significantly reduce the length of the form.

In line with our brand personality, I aimed to craft a flow that feels more conversational, akin to users chatting with a friend about their beloved dogs.

I integrated motion to create a seamless onboarding experience, enhancing user engagement and navigation flow.

Added a loading animation to evoke the feeling that we're handpicking a personalized course tailored specifically for each user's dog, enhancing the sense of anticipation and personalization.

Outcome

The sign-up rate improved by 25%, marking a quick win for us, especially considering the minimal engineering effort required in the first phase.
